Warrnambool Community Garden is a thriving, community-led space that brings people together through gardening, sustainability, and local food systems. We're seeking a capable and proactive individual to step into a short-term relief Site Manager role and help keep the garden running smoothly.
This is a hands-on acting role suited to someone who enjoys working outdoors, coordinating people, and supporting community initiatives. You will be well supported in the role by the committee, members and volunteers.
Duration: 8 weeks running 19 August til 14 October inclusive
Day: Wednesdays
Hours: 10am – 6pm
This is a paid role with the remuneration to be negotiated depending on skills and experiences.
About the role
You will be responsible for maintaining day-to-day operations of the garden and supporting the weekly Wednesday market. You’ll work closely with volunteers, members, and committee representatives to ensure the space is welcoming, functional, and productive.
What you’ll be doing
Overseeing general site operations and presentation
Using the tractor and other machinery to support garden maintenance
Supporting volunteers and garden members with a range of gardening activities
Assisting with set-up, coordination, and pack-down of the weekly market
Monitoring and maintaining communal areas, tools, and equipment
Ensuring essential supplies are stocked and accessible
Acting as a key point of contact during your shift
Addressing any maintenance, safety, or operational issues though your own work of by mobilising contractors or volunteers.
About you
This role would suit someone who:
Is confident working independently and taking initiative
Has experience in gardening, maintenance or volunteer coordination
Enjoys working with a diverse range of people
Is organised, practical, and solutions-focused
Has an interest in sustainability, local food systems, or community development
Tractor and front-end loader operation training or experience will be highly regarded
