Open day celebrating more than fifteen years of growth

Warrnambool Community Garden will spring to life on Saturday October 19 when members host a free community Open Day event to celebrate more than 15 years on site.

Commencing at 10am with a Welcome to Country, the event will celebrate the amazing transformations including the quarry amphitheatre, Chook Hilton, Healthy Urban Building (the HUB), herb garden, new shed, composting, worm farm and frog pond.

Activities and entertainment also include music featuring local musicians Home Made Jam, Southwest Harpistry, Bruce Campbell and the CommonGround and the Warrnambool City Band.

There’ll be plenty of free activities for the family, including the opening of the children’s garden and Sprouts Club area and the renewed all abilities gardening nursery area.

A sizzling BBQ with meat and vegetarian options will look after healthy appetites.

Visitors can pick up a map and explore points of interest including the quarry amphitheatre, herb garden, chooks, new shed, composting, worm farm and frog pond.

Garden members will be posted at several points on the tour to hold conversations with people interested in those areas.

There’ll be displays from community organisations and a visual history of the near 20 years of the Warrnambool Community Garden.

Visitors will be invited to take snaps and lodge an image or two in the photo competition through a dedicated email address, with more details available on the Warrnambool Community Garden Facebook page.
