KIDS GARDEN

Children are our future. The children's area is a play, exploration and learning space.
We run a weekly after school program, Sprouts Club and children explore the garden when they visit with family, walking around, playing in the sandpit, or join in activities. Tours and activities for schools, preschools and children's community groups bring children for planned activities.
Sprouts Club
This fun after school and school holiday program covers an introduction to gardening, learning how to plant, grow, harvest and share the delicious fruit, vegetables and herbs the children and their carers grow.
It runs weekly from in line with the Wednesday garden market and you can pay as you go sessions to suit busy schedules.
Activities can include almost anything. Think soil preparation, planting seeds, caring for plants, harvesting, visiting the chooks, feeding the worm farm and composting and more. They will also be building a habitat garden and learning some garden ecology.

Sessions are very cheap, normally around $5 per session. Sessions are designed for 8 to 12 year olds a much wider range of ages enjoy them.
Carers must stay on site for the session, and are encouraged to take part with the children. Our carers are commonly grandparents, and activities act as a focus for a lot of shared fun and learning.
Activities last year included all aspects of gardening from propagation to planting to care of plants to harvesting - even a produce stall at our garden market. Children have interacted with our chooks, learned about mushrooms and cheese making, done arts and craft activities, and so much more.
Our garden is a great way for kindergardens, schools and other groups to learn about a range of topics including gardening, sustainability, science, art, geography, history and food technology.
We can customise a tour or activity to suit the educational aims of the group. Activities and tours have a small charge to cover event planning and materials.
