About the event

Step into the secret world of orchids! Australia is home to hundreds of native species, from tiny ground orchids to spectacular tree-dwelling varieties, each with its own story to tell. In this hands-on Sprouts Club session, children will discover how these clever plants thrive in the wild, working together with moss, trees and even fungi to grow.

Guided by our facilitators, each child will create a soft, mossy home for their very own baby Dendrobium orchid, a native that grows beautifully in our local climate. Along the way, they’ll learn about the diversity of orchid shapes, colours and habitats, and why protecting these delicate plants helps keep our ecosystems healthy.

Build connections and essential skills

Designed for children aged 6 to 12, our weekly sessions align perfectly with the Wednesday garden market, making it easy for busy families to participate. The program is open to everyone, no garden membership required!…

We acknowledge the Peek Whurrong People of the Maar Nation as the original custodians of the land on which we meet and garden. Our garden adjoins a significant place, we continue to learn its history as we work together in a spirit of reconciliation.
