Introducing Fruit Rescue!

A new initiative is launching in the Warrnambool area and they need your help to spread the word!

We're proud to support Fruit Rescue a food waste solution that collects unused fruit from people’s gardens and public spaces that would otherwise go to waste.

This closely links to our aim for our community to live sustainably.

The rescued produce will be shared between the person who registers the tree, the volunteer pickers and organisations that distribute food to those who may have limited access.

There are many ways the community can help:

  • Share some time: Volunteer to help pick and you’ll share in one-third of the harvest and make some new connections.

  • Share a tree: if you have or know of a tree that has fruit that isn’t being picked, Fruit Rescue would love to harvest the fruit you don’t need.

  • Share the fruit: If you know of an organisation can help to distribute fruit to those who may not have access, they can register now.

  • Like and share this project on Facebook and Instagram.

  • The project team will be at the market on Wednesday 4 October if you'd like to learn more, come and say hello!

We acknowledge the Peek Whurrong People of the Maar Nation as the original custodians of the land on which we meet and garden. Our garden adjoins a significant place, we continue to learn its history as we work together in a spirit of reconciliation.
