In our increasingly connected world, celebrating diversity and building digital skills is more crucial than ever. The Warrnambool Multicultural Association team up with our garden members for an engaging event that showcases the rich flavors and traditions of our diverse society while learning digital skills in a friendly, hands-on environment.
Mark your calendars for later this month during Get Online Week, a national initiative by Good Things Foundation Australia. This event is designed to help people of all ages feel safer and more confident online. Get ready for an opportunity to explore new ingredients, share stories, and connect with others in a welcoming atmosphere.
Discovering new flavours
At the heart of our event is a celebration of the culinary traditions that enrich our community. Attendees will have the chance to use translation apps to identify names of plants, fruits, and vegetables from different cultures, opening up discussions about their origins and uses.
As we cultivate ideas for our international exchange bed, we encourage everyone to share their personal stories and recipes featuring local produce. We hope to plant this out to show the wider range of vegetables out there and inspire people to try something new.
Hands-on learning with technology
Friendly volunteers will assist participants, whether they are tech-savvy or complete beginners. This hands-on approach ensures that everyone, regardless of age or experience, finds something valuable. This inclusive atmosphere is perfect for learning at your own pace while fostering community connections.
Get Online Week: a national initiative
Get Online Week is a nationwide initiative featuring hundreds of free events led by community organisations across Australia. This year, participants can take part in workshops about accessing government services, staying safe online, and exploring topics like artificial intelligence.
These events are designed to be accessible, practical, and enjoyable. With over 1,200 events running nationwide during this week, the focus is on empowering people to boost their digital confidence.
