About the event

Get hands-on with weeds and know how to tackle them! Join local ethnobotanical enthusiast and forager Chris Rockley for a practical workshop that will transform your view of weeds -from pesky invaders to valuable garden allies.

Explore how to:

  • Identify local weeds at different stages, from seedlings to adults, and discover when they’re most likely to appear.

  • Understand weed reproduction cycles & seedbank and learn how to use this knowledge to your advantage.

  • Master simple, effective hand-removal techniques - ditch the chemicals and keep your garden healthy.

  • Turn weeds into resources: use them as mulch, fertiliser, or animal fodder, and learn which ones are edible or useful (and which to avoid).

We acknowledge the Peek Whurrong People of the Maar Nation as the original custodians of the land on which we meet and garden. Our garden adjoins a significant place, we continue to learn its history as we work together in a spirit of reconciliation.
