About the event

We're very lucky to have Neil Barraclough of the Heritage and Rare Fruit Network offer to share his seed saving presentation with us for one night only!

Seed saving has heaps of benefits, including saving you money, increased self-reliance meaning you don't need to get seeds from other sources, and the ability to breed plants adapted to your local conditions. It promotes genetic diversity and allows you to connect more deeply with your food.

But there can be some tricks to it, some varieties cross-pollinate more than others which brings different challenges. Neil has quite a bit of experience to share with us which will save you years of trial and error.

By saving seeds from the healthiest plants, we can create strains that are more resilient to local pests, diseases, and climate variations.

Grab your dinner at the weekly Wednesday market on 13 August from 3-6pm then join for…

We acknowledge the Peek Whurrong People of the Maar Nation as the original custodians of the land on which we meet and garden. Our garden adjoins a significant place, we continue to learn its history as we work together in a spirit of reconciliation.
