About the event

With support from the WDEA Works Foundation, we're bringing our community a series of sessions to help you grow your skills and knowledge.

The best time to plant a garden was years ago, then the next best time is now.

Learn from different growers what inspired them to start gardening, what motivates them to keep growing and their lessons so you don't have to learn them.

Hear from small space to backyard to market and commercial growers and how the different scales need different techniques and approaches.

Discover the plants and varieties they have been experimenting with and their efforts to transition from self-sufficiency to community sufficiency.

Our panel includes

  • Heather Ryan - Heather's Potager is a wonderful site at the community garden, she experiments with a range of companion plants and leads the children's garden area consisting of Biofilta Foodcubes.
  • Vince Haberfield - Eck Cottage Farm grows a range of local produce to sell at markets around the region. Vince has trialled a range of fruits and vegetables, including a recent experiment into saffron.
  • Theres Drake - Drakes Fresh Produce continues to expand the market garden with fresh seasonal vegetables and baked goods offered at their roadside stall.

No experience is necessary, there will be some time for questions at the end of the session. Tea and coffee provided.

If you have a suggestion for a future workshop, we would love to hear it, email wcggrows@gmail.com and we'll see what we can do.
