About the event

We make preserves for several reasons. Most importantly they are delicious accompaniments to many types of food.

As their name suggests they also allow us to preserve excess vegetables and fruits when available, so we can access the flavours of summer and autumn in other seasons.

Chutneys, pickles and relishes are three delicious ways of making preserves in a shelf-stable way (no refrigeration required until they are opened).

Learn the basics of these cooking methods from our experienced cooks, get hands-on practice at cooking and bottling these preserves, and take home some delicious products of the day.

Wear old clothes or bring an apron, lab coat or similar.

If you have a suggestion for a future workshop, we would love to hear it, email wcggrows@gmail.com and we'll see what we can do.

We acknowledge the Peek Whurrong People of the Maar Nation as the original custodians of the land on which we meet and garden. Our garden adjoins a significant place, we continue to learn its history as we work together in a spirit of reconciliation.
