About the event

Join local plant enthusiast, author of the Plants of the Great South West, member of the Australian Plants Society Warrnambool & District and Friends of Swan Reserve Kevin Sparrow, for a hands-on workshop that will grow your propagation skills from the ground up.

This session is part of the pocket forest project, and some of the seeds you sow will be nurtured to become part of the new tiny forest taking root at the Warrnambool Community Garden. You will sow and take home a selection of native plant seeds for you to grow.

Learn the secrets behind successful native plant propagation by seed, from collection and storage to germination and planting. You’ll leave ready for the seed-collecting season, confident in how to grow strong, local plants from scratch.

Explore how to:

  • Identify and collect viable native seeds.

  • Store seeds effectively (and learn why some need a whole year to rest!).
