About the event

Just like planting a tree helps restore the land, building a floating wetland helps restore our waterways! In this hands-on session with environmental engineer, Tim Tutt and Executive Director of GreenPrint Projects, Anthea Rafferty, and pond designer and creator, Attila Gaal, Sprouts will discover how wetlands clean water, protect animals, and keep our rivers and lakes healthy. The group will work together to build and plant a mini floating wetland module using real materials, then watch it float on the garden pond. Once the floating wetland is established, it will be relocated to form part of the Lake Gilllear revegetation project in collaboration with Warrnambool Coastcare Landcare, Emmanuel College and Eastern Maar Aboriginal Cooporation.

Children will explore, observe, and create while learning about ecology and sustainability in an interactive way.

We acknowledge the Peek Whurrong People of the Maar Nation as the original custodians of the land on which we meet and garden. Our garden adjoins a significant place, we continue to learn its history as we work together in a spirit of reconciliation.
